Enough of the blame game
With a June 1 school shutdown looming, P4T is joining other parent and community groups calling on the mayor to tap city revenues to keep schools open. We're saying "Enough" of the blame game between Rahm Emanuel and Bruce Rauner. Please join us and elected officials who will be introducing new revenue-producing ordinances tomorrow at City Hall.
Chicago is not broke. If there's money for luxury hotels and developers, the mayor can find money for our schools. Join us tomorrow:

Empower LSCs
One of the main arguments the mayor uses against an elected school board is that CPS has democratically elected Local School Councils (LSCs). But over the years, CPS has weakened the power of LSCs.
HB 3786 would change that. It would require any school receiving public funds to have a fully empowered LSC. This includes charters, military academies and contract schools run by AUSL. The bill also maintains the LSC's decision-making authority regardless of school ranking and requires a super majority vote of the LSC to approve any school closing or turnaround.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Elizabeth Hernandez, will be heard in committee tomorrow. Please fill out a witness slip to support the bill. Use this link and mark PROPONENT.
Any DONATION you can afford will be a big help to our cause.
